Tucked away just a short drive up Provo Canyon past waterfalls and world famous fly fishing, this cabin retreat sits near the base of Sundance Ski Resort. Summers are pleasant here, but winters can be cold with deep snow and frigid wind whipping down the canyon. So this cabin’s owner wanted their weekend escape constructed to withstand the weather and minimize unnecessary heating and cooling bills when they’re not around.
Insulated concrete panels are strong and energy efficient. Most of our customers are commercial builders looking to take advantage of the many benefits of insulated concrete construction, but we also have a growing number of individual home builders who utilize our sandwich panel systems.
This customer opted for a traditional vertical pour-in-place foundation so the builder used our VP (Vertical Pour) connector ties. The VP and modular precast system are specifically designed for use in vertical pour site cast formwork, precast panels or modular precast units. Each sheet of insulation is pre-drilled with holes or marked on one side with dots on 12 inch centers, indicating where ties would normally be inserted into the foam.
The result is a solid wall built to last and withstand the elements.
